"Jet Wolf?" you're asking yourself. "Who is Jet Wolf? Why should I read her thoughts and opinions on comics in general and the X-Men in particular? What is her secret origin?"
Okay, maybe you aren't thinking that exactly, but if you haven't been around me or my site for long, then it can't hurt to fill you in a bit on my comic-related background. Besides the fact that I love to hear myself talk.
Here are the basic things you need to know:
I've been a fan of the X-Men since my first off-the-rack issues, Uncanny X-Men # 241 and Classic X-Men #s 29 and 30. That dates me to steady collecting since late 1988.
My collection of Uncanny spans from #133 through to the current issue, with about ten earlier, scattered issues.
Rogue is undeniably my favourite character and has been almost since the beginning. She quickly became one of my favourite characters in all of fiction. This makes me admittedy biased on occassion -- if she's in an issue, I'm much more inclined to like it. However it also can be a detriment, because I have much more strict ideas about how she should be written. Other major favourites that tend to influence my opinion on things include Kitty, Kurt, and Peter. On the other end of the spectrum I very, very much dislike Havok, and Scott tends to irk the hell out of me too.
Chris Claremontis the definitive X-Men writer. Quirky narration and dialogue tendencies aside, none can touch his ability to craft an X-Men story and none come close to understanding them like he does.
I plan to, eventually, have a review of all the X-Men issues that I own. It's an ambitious project, but one that I've been wanting to do for years and something that I enjoy. However in an attempt to not get too far behind, I'm reviewing current issues as they're released, regardless of the issues before it that I may or may not have reviewed. New issue reviews should be posted by the Saturday after the books are released, hopefully sooner.
Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
Wait, wrong cliché.
I'm the best there is at what I do. And what I do read lots of comics.
