Women's Sexuality Sells (Spoilers for Comics)

Want to discuss all the wonderful Buffy stuff that happened in seven years that we didn't write but totally wish we did? There's a place for that. Chat about the show, the actors, the latest news -- if it's Buffy-related, it's welcome.

Women's Sexuality Sells (Spoilers for Comics)

Hi,

here, by angearia, is a piece that, for me, cristallizes many of the reasons why I've become very disilluisoned with the S8 comics; but also Joss' work since Firefly/Serenity http://angearia.livejournal.com/140781.html , which is why I've decided to try and start a new thread, in the hope that this will not be buried in the general discussions of the comics.

It's a little disturbing for me that I didn't see this trend more clearly before reading this a half hour ago. Guess I'm not as immune to traditional cultural thinking as I like to think I am, huh?

Still under Willow & Tara's spell,
Ray.

Few people are.

Interesting to see someone who actually does a decent analysis and dares to stick with it.
Having just finished rereading L.E. Modesitts "Spellsong Cycle" books i almost laughed reading the link, i could just hear the caustic comments from Anna or Secca(the main characters in first 3 and last 2 books respectively, women of power in a very male dominated world).

Its similar to how courts are persuaded to take into account clothing of women in rape cases.
It obviously should be completely irrelevant, and yet its far too often used as an excuse or "mitigating circumstance".

Anyway, its something that has been rather obvious to me since long ago, but it might be that because nudity in media isnt as controversial here as USA, with all the fuzz you get about it in the tv-shows and movies from USA it gets almost a bit spotlighted, it becomes a little easier to notice...
This has been an objective and completely impartial message from the propaganda bureau of DIREWOLF75. Thank you for reading. Have a nice day.
