My Fellow Americans I address you today on the eve of a crime so heinous that we as a nation are averting our eyes rather than face the ugly reality. We are gearing up to run full-steam into War. Not a war for liberation, nor a war for freedom, nor even a war for peace of mind as our leaders might have us believe. This is a war for the almighty dollar. In God We Trust. My fellow Americans, This is a war unlike any other before it. While no war can be considered a pleasant event, never before have the motivations been so skewered, so covetous, so very American. We are preparing to fight a war based on unfounded accusations. The very moral backbone upon which our leaders are attempting to build support is contradictory to the actions they are proposing. My fellow Americans, This administration has proven only two things since taking office.
My fellow Americans, Why are we, as a unified people, not up in arms about this approaching travesty? Why are we not standing together against this pale, flimsy excuse for violence and personal gain? Why do we think it’s alright that thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of innocent people are sure to die in the name of another culture’s thoughts and beliefs? We certainly didn’t think it was alright in Fall 2001 when it happened to us. What’s the difference? Oh yeah. That was us. This is them. My fellow Americans, I have lost count of the number of times I’ve heard somebody say “I don’t necessarily agree with what Bush wants to do, but he’s the President so we have to support him.” To put it eloquently: Bullshit. If you saw Bush lining twenty children against a wall with a revolver in his hand, would you stand idly by and say “Well, I don’t agree with this slaughter, but you’re the President, so I’ll support you.” I sure as hell hope not. You were born with a brain in your head which is, whether you realize it or not, capable of independent thought. I don’t care if NBC, Fox and CNN are there to cover the event and the U.N. is on-hand to give Bush the Nobel Peace Prize after he’s wiped the blood off of his hands, wrong is wrong. My fellow Americans, This is wrong. It is not okay to fling accusations, present no proof, not allow time for cogent evidence to come to light, and then bully the rest of the world with “You’re with us or against us” noise to validate your need to bomb someone. It is not okay to kill for monetary gain, it is not okay to use fear and ignorance to feed your need for approval, and it is not okay to do these things in our name. My fellow Americans, The time is now. We must stop believing everything we’re told and start asking for facts to draw our own conclusions. We must stop buying duct tape and start thinking for ourselves. Our government likes to tell us that we’re the best nation in the world, the model for the rest of this global society. It’s time we start acting like it. Until then, my fellow Americans, We are so very fucked.
