The only thing we'll credit you for is your lack of intelligence.

Those of you who regularly check OSB v2.0 might have noticed a lack of updating. Unfortunately, this isn't a status that's going to change any time soon.

Sadly, the time has come to close down OSB.

The reasons are many.

First of all, my general lack of time when it comes to updating my web site. It's all I can do these days to keep As If! and Daily running ... and pretty much everything but As If! has been dropped (although I am trying to get better about Daily, I swear). I still have rants that I want to write. I have pending movies to slam. I still have about two thirds of Xena that I want to review. Essentially, when I have time to do web pages, OSB is invariably the last part that I want to touch.

Secondly, job security. For better or worse, I'm part of corporate America now. A corporate America that takes itself far more seriously than any home-grown Louisianian business. Whereas before my boss was actually a fan of the site, I get the feeling that if the CEO of our company ran across OSB, he wouldn't find it quite so amusing.

Thirdly, and most importantly, is material. If this were in large supply, then I could deal with #1 and #2. But unfortunately my position has changed my work and I'm two levels removed from the largest source of OSB material -- the customer. My interaction at this point has been focused primariliy to the representative. And while there are indeed stories to be found here, given that a large part of my job is to help them improve the weaknesses that I find ... well, I don't feel I can really do my job properly if I spend my spare time ranting on things that I'm supposed to be fixing.

And so, it's time to close the doors of OSB. It's a sad thing, true, but I feel content in the knowledge that for over a year I provided a haven for those of us in the customer service industry. A sincere thank you to the overwhelming amount of support we received while OSB was running. It was (and still is) reassuring to know that you guys were out there sharing our pain.

Sincerely,
--Nikki & Mike
