Jet Wolf's Top 100
Most Memorable Sailor Moon Moments
Numbers 1 to 10

10. Jupiter saving Usagi [JP]
Episode #171 [Stars 5]

If I hadn't been a Mako fan before this episode, I would've become one after it. It is little more than Mako doing what she does best: Whatever her heart tells her to do. So simple to explain, and yet so hard for most of us to actually carry out.

9. The Senshi's abduction [JP]
Episode #73 [SMR 27]

The credit for my love of this scene must go to Mitsuishi Kotono. She has this uncanny ability to
make it sound as though her heart has just been ripped out of her chest and spat on. And we bear witness to an almost violent outburst on Usagi's part!

8. Return of the Senshi [JP]
Episode #46

I can't think of a single thing done wrong in this episode, only things done right. This is one of them.
It was great to see a return to the simpler times of the first episode, even if only for a few minutes.

7. Pink Sugar Heart Attack! [JP]
Episode #103 [SMS 14]

Upon first viewing this "attack", I think that at least five minutes went by before I could regain control of myself and finish watching the episode. If you haven't seen Chibi-Moon's pitiful attempt to be useful (no offense intended to the Chibi-Moon fans out there, Hi Mark), then you are missing out on something sure to put a smile on your face every time you see it. And if you have seen it ... well, you know what I'm talking about. Although in the first couple of times she uses this attack, I'm still not sure what's funnier: The complete ineffectiveness of the attack itself, or the complete disinterest that the daemons show in her. ^_^

6. The Outer Senshi [JP]
Episode #167 [Stars 1]

>My first tape of Stars was only my fourth tape of Japanese Sailor Moon, and I got it very shortly after deciding that I was becoming obsessed, so why fight it? I had heard little more than the occassional reference or comment about the Outer Senshi, and was looking forward to getting to see them in action. This episode didn't disappoint me. From the beginning of the second half of this episode to the end of it I was enraptured (even if I was confused -- I didn't know what the heck was going on with that baby).

5. The death of Usagi [JP]
The R Movie

As I mentioned earlier, I didn't expect for one second that the ginzuishou would shatter. You can imagine, then, my shock and surprise when it did. Sad music again, a few more panicked "Usagi!"s from Tomizawa Michie, angst by the Inners and beautifully animated sequences all serve to make this a winner.

4. The Three Talismans [JP]
Episodes #110-111 [SMS 21-22]

Finally, the answer to the question that's been hovering over our heads since the first episode of this season: Who has the Talismans? Well, Eudial knows, and before long, so do Uranus and Neptune. Much to their surprise (although not to mine, and now, not to yours), it's them. These episodes have it all: humour, action, romance, drama, development, suspense -- You name it, and it's there. These episodes are absolute must-sees for fans of the show, and especially if you are fans of Uranus and Neptune. You're hard pushed to find better crafted episodes than these anywhere.

3. Defeat of Beryl/Metallia [JP]
Episode #46

As far as I'm concerned, this is the Sailor Moon battle. There will never be another
that will be able to either surpass or equal this one.

2. "It's not over." [JP]
Episode #45

Sailor Mars, a Senshi that's pretty tough to kill. She was about to die, but Rei-chan was never one to let a little detail like that bother her, not when Usagi needs saving. There was onrushing death in those eyes ... even the youma knew it. It only lasted about 15 seconds, but those were some of the best 15 seconds ever.

1. Death of the Senshi [JP]
Episode #45

Encompassing more than half of the best Sailor Moon episode that ever was or ever will be made, I doubt that any sequence in any other TV show will be able to match the emotion that ran through this one. I knew it was coming -- I had read the spoilers ahead of time. And I knew that the Senshi would come back in the end. Yet knowledge of both of these events did nothing to lessen its impact.
From Mako turning back and seeing a battered "Motoki" to a wish that her Princess remain happy ...
From Ami's lonely and unselfish sacrifice to the final use of her computer ...
From Minako's leap to save Sailor Moon to a vengeful, shattering "Crescent Beam!" ...
From Rei's final admittance of what is in her heart to a wish that she had listened to Usagi after all ...
And finally, to Usagi's realization that even death cannot separate her from those she loves as she runs across the snow, determined to bring down the monster that caused all this pain ... It doesn't get any better than this.
It is nothing short of brilliant.
