Jet Wolf's Top 100
Most Memorable Sailor Moon Moments
Numbers 41 to 50
50. The Senshi going to fight the Death Busters [JP]
Episode #122 [SMS 33]
This scene was probabaly as cliched as it can get, what with the
long, solitary shadows, the setting sun, the faded profiles, the sad music ... But it all works. An excellent scene.
49. Usagi in the phone booth [JP or NA]
Episode #61 or 55: The Cosmetic Caper
Just look at that picture. Nothing else needs to be said.
48. Dead Scream [JP]
Episode #167 [Stars 1]
I agree, the appearance of this attack is odd and a bit out of place.
But when I first heard Pluto's whispering voice and the really nifty swirling mists, I was highly impressed. That's stuck with me, and there are times even now when I'll rant and rave over the Dead Scream.
47. Ami's life before Usagi [JP]
The R Movie
There's no doubt about it, this flashback into Ami's past is one
of the more heart-tugging things I've seen from this series. As if Ami
doesn't usually look sad enough! And she's only one of the sweetest characters in existance .... Stupid people.
46. "He's a GIRL??" [JP]
Episode #92 [SMS 3]
Okay, so maybe you saw the joke coming a mile away if you already
knew about Uranus, but that doesn't change the fact that the Super-Deformed Pyramid is funny. And we got an obligatory "sempai" reference too!
Eternal Sailor Moon, distraught over the abduction of Mamoru and
Chibi-Usa's consequent paradox problems, finds that she is now able to
transform without the help of the others and she flies off. Rei notices
what she's about to do, and makes a mad dash to catch Usagi before she
leaves. It doesn't work, of course, but the instinctive sentiment behind her attempt was extremely touching (and pure Rei-chan).
44. Fiore's attack in the streets [JP]
The R Movie
Besides the fact that Fiore looks darned cool in that white suit
of his, the calm music and his effortless trouncing of the Senshi adds
up to an awesome atmosphere. (Anyone else wince when Jupiter hit that phone booth?)
43. The Three Sailor Stooges [NA]
Episode #27: Kitty Chaos
Pure comedy, through and through. One of my all-time favourite scenes.
42. Mina's finger [JP]
Episode #66 [SMR 20]
The build-up to this scene was so immense for me ... DiC teased us
by leaving it in the "Sailor Says" (evil people), and I thought I was gonna die just from the little bits we could see there. When I was able to finally watch the scene in its entirety, I wasn't disappointed. If you think it looks chaotic, you haven't seen anything until you add in the audio.
41. Pluto stops time [JP]
Episode #124 [SMS 35]
What a place to put a commercial break, just when the Outers get
obliterated in their helicopter! Upon our return, however, it seems as
though Pluto has instead committed a very large no-no and frozen time,
allowing Uranus and Neptune to be teleported to safety. The echoing and
slightly distorted voices, coupled with the violently exploding background that doesn't move at all help make yet another excellent scene from this already fantastic episode.
