Jet Wolf's Top 100
Most Memorable Sailor Moon Moments
Numbers 91 to 100
100. Witches 5 No More [JP]
Episode #114 [SMS 25]
The only reason that this isn't higher on the list is because I was
more than aware of this jab at Eudial's death by Mimet long before actually getting to see it. But I found the other little "touches" by Mimet to be especially amusing ... Eudial's defaced picture on the wall, dead lillies wilting on her empty desk -- Somehow all these little petty jabs at Eudial made it easier to forget (and forgive) Mimet for being the cool, calculated murderess that she was (and isn't that for the best? I don't think I would've wanted to listen to anyone any less likeable singing "I Am Sailor Moon" ... I'm not even sure I wanted to listen to Mimet singing it.)
99. "Nice to meet you..." [JP]
Episode #108 [SMS 19]
This fairly average episode manages to save itself from obscurity
thanks to the wonderful comedic sequences in it, the best of which would definately be the drunken Usagi's attempt at speaking English. (Although there's comedy in just about all the English spoken in this episode, especially when you listen to the supposed native speakers. Yeah, that old guy was fluent in English. Suuuure he was.)
98. Spies Like Us [JP]
Episode #103 [SMS 14]
One of the best episodes for comic relief, I got a big kick out of
watching Rei trying to find the others. Or, more accurately, from watching the others continue to hide from Rei. Okay, so it was riddled with comedy cliches, I don't care, they worked. Felt sorry for the waitress, though ...
97. Droid Thunderclap [NA]
Episode #58: Trouble Comes Thundering Down
<laughing hysterically> I heard a sound file of Sailor Moon
impersonating Droid Thunderclap before I actually got to see it. When I did see it, it was even funnier. One of those cases where, IMHO, the DiC version improved over the Japanese original.
96. Usagi and Minako [JP]
Episode #92 [SMS 3]
One of the first indications of a trend that persists even through
Stars, there's something both amusing and cute whenever these two get on a roll.
("Nan desu ka?" "Desu ka!")
95. "Puu", huh? [JP]
Episode #115 [SMS 26]
There's something about Michiru that just seems to always have a
joking and teasing air about her, and this is a perfect example. Appearing out of nowhere (which must also be one of the Outers hidden powers), Haruka and Michiru observe Chibi-Usa leaving after a conversation with Setsuna, the later addressing Pluto with Chibi's favoured "Puu" nickname. Just one of those short, good scenes that helps make the show so great.
94. Ami's Mind Warp [JP]
Episode #80 [SMR 34]
For some reason, Ami angsting episodes always stick with me very
well. This one is no exception, as Ami struggles to break free of the Droid's control. Besides all of that, we get to see shots of some pretty evil looking Senshi, and Ami again slaps Usagi! (She's rivaling Rei-chan in abuse, I think...)
93. Mako the Protector [JP]
Episode #80 [SMR 34]
Some of the boys at school actually have the nerve to accuse Ami
of cheating! And when Naru and Usagi stick up for her, the boys, under
the influence of Dark Power of course, begin to close in and things are
looking bleak. But out of nowhere comes a saviour ... It's scenes like
this that remind me why I love Mako-chan so much.
92. Usagi's surrender[JP]
The R Movie
And it's scenes like this that make me gaze in wonder at how Usagi
is able to feel as much as she does. Her heart is so huge .... The world would be a better place if people like her actually existed, ne?
91. Mako and her Sempai [JP or NA]
Episode #49 [SMR 3] or 43: A Knight to Remember
Even though we still don't know exactly what happened in this
flashback of Mako's, it's quite clear that she's upset by his leaving.
Something about an upset Mako-chan always gets to me.
