Out of curiosity, once I finished the final sorting of all 713 moments, I took a look at what ranked in both the Top 10 and Top 100 (as well as my raw list) for trends. Cuz I like that sort of thing. Maybe you do too, so check it out. Make sure to squelch the urge to poke fun at me for making a list about my list.
The Top 10
- Six of the Top 10 moments were from episodes written by Joss Whedon.
- Three Top 10 moments were from Season 5. Seasons 2 and 6 each snagged two spots each. Season 1, 4 and 7 each took one moment. There were no Top 10 moments from Season 3.
- "The Body" was the only episode to get two Top 10 moments.
The Top 100
- 44 of the Top 100 moments were from episodes written by Joss Whedon.
- The per-season breakdown for the Top 100 is as follows:
- Seasons 5 and 6 tie for first with 22 moments each.
- Season 4 has 18 moments.
- Season 7 has 16 moments. Extremely interesting, given that S7 was far and away my least favourite.
- Season 2 has 11 moments.
- Season 3 has 8 moments.
- Season 1 has 3 moments.
- The highest-ranking episodes in the Top 100 were:
- "The Body" : 7
- "Once More, With Feeling" : 5
- "Becoming, pt. 2" and "Conversations With Dead People" : 4
- "Passion", "Innocence", "Hush", "Who Are You?", "Restless", "Family", "The Gift", "Tabula Rasa", "Seeing Red", "Chosen" : 3
Overall
- Joss has writing credit for 184 moments, however I know that he rewrote much of what made it on the list, so an accurate number is pretty much impossible.
- The season breakdown:
- Season 7: 148
- Season 6: 142
- Season 5 : 135
- Season 4 : 121
- Season 3 : 91
- Season 2 : 60
- Season 1 : 16
Again, extremely interesting given that I had a strong aversion to most of S7 and the entire Spuffy storyline from S6 which ate up oodles of screen time. I think that the glut of moments in those two can be attributed to a couple of episodes that were just swimming in them. Speaking of, had I not combined all those "Tabula Rasa" moments into one, S6 would have just edged out S7 for the most.

Also interesting, since I would not at all consider that an accurate listing of my favourite episodes. "Chosen" was good and all, but no way is it my favourite episode, and note the definite absence of, say, "Doppelgängland". Which I guess just goes to show that a body of work can either be more or less than the sum of its parts. Hm. That really pretty well sums up Buffy, doesn't it?
