The horror ... The horror ...

Monday 9th July

Oregonians, lock up your sheep, the Wolf has arrived.

Or as Nikki slightly more unoriginally put it - "We're heeeeeeeere!" ....eh, cut her some slack, her usual rapier wit is dulled from a cross-country drive ;)

There was no day five simple because, well duh, they were resting in Utah ;p

The trio are currently holed up in a hotel a mere 5 miles from their new home. This wasn't because they started late, really, but because no matter HOW early they left, it'd be a safe bet that the letting agents would be closed by the time they hit Beaverton. But Nikki, in her eternal quest to prove relative time and space wrong, HAD attempted to get there by the 6pm closing, if not for two handy things to blame:

1) Oregon's slighter slower speed limit - 65mph. Nothing like a state law to really bum up your schedule ;). But Nikki is nothing if not law-abiding and dutifully commenced being a good Oregonian by obeying said law. Besides, with insurance up for renewal shortly, a speeding ticket is perhaps not a smart move.

2) Mountains. Lots of them. With steep descents and an alarmingly frequent number of 'runaway vehicle' trails branching off the road. I find myself having flashbacks of MST3K's 'Riding with Death' ^_- "Well I don't know any vehicle that made that corner past 65, what's your speed?" "130, is that a problem?". Eh, you had to be there ;)

So anyway, once again Nikki chanced a late, SAFE arrival at the expense of potentially no arrival at all, which I think we can all agree is the best decision.

So anyway, that's about it, folks. I anticipate phone contact with Nikki some time in the next few days, so depending on how fast Katchoo can be hooked up, you will either hear further updates from myself or Nikki. I'm guessing though, I'll still be here a little longer. On the morrow, Nikki is determined to grocery-shop, open a bank account (after picking a bank, too), make sure all essential utilities are switched on and working AND make a start on job-hunting.

Jett will be in her new home....probably still running up and down the stairs.

She hits the ground running, doesn't she? ^_-

And now for those of you who, like Amy, are geographically impaired, we present this pictoral representation.
