I had Mike take this picture, because for me, it is the quintessential New England storefront area. Note how everything is blue or aqua. It's all wooden, with hugely slanted roofs. It doesn't matter that I've never actually been to New England, this is now and forever how it will look for me.
I lived in Massachusetts, and while I can say it doesn't look like this, I can also say that the state is not on the seashore. So draw your own conclusions.

The first of many pictures of water. Also helpfully provided, our printout map and directions.
Photoshop? Who needs Photoshop? We have window!
And Windows, which is sort of funny really.

I think the lighthouse adds to that. I was quite enchanted by the lighthouse, actually. And it's pretty cool, because you could see it from our hotel room, too, though on the opposite side.

Ignoring the blurriness of this picture, I like how Newport is advertising itself as "The Friendliest", but it doesn't clarify further.
Maybe they're the friendliest Coast Guard City.
Well that's certainly better than some of the dark roads my mind is taking.

The Hole in the Wall Gallery. There's a place that cries out, "Come visit me!"
Yeah, I love that. That, and the "Candy Express-0".
